Designed and fabricated by MakMax Australia and installed by the Taiyo US team at Birdair, the 16 QS60 Quasar Modular Shade Structures have been scattered around the new Coachman Park public waterfront development in Clearwater, Florida.
The Quasar Modular Shade Structure utilises a ‘hypar’ design to create aesthetically pleasing shade solutions around the Coachman Park area, with structures installed over walkways, seating areas, picnic spots and children’s play areas.
The Materials
Built as part of Birdair’s tensile membrane Amphitheatre project in Clearwater, the QS60’s have been designed to withstand the tropical wind speeds found along Florida’s Gulf Coast.
The canopies are Mehler FR700N PVC membranes, fabricated in MakMax Australia’s Brisbane factory, and shipped to Florida along with stainless steel cables and hardware. Birdair’s install team assembled the Quasar modular shade structures in Clearwater Park alongside their 4,500 square meter PTFE and Tensotherm Amphitheatre Canopy.
The Result
Designed in Australia and installed in the US by Birdair as part of their massive Coachman Park Amphitheatre project, the Coachman Park Quasar Shade Structures are a great example of international cooperation within Taiyo Kogyo family of tensile membrane companies.
