Providing shade and weather to visitors in the Miniland section of the new LEGOLAND® NY Resort, the Miniland Monacos are a series of 17 side-supported tensile membrane canopies.
The Brief
Located in Goshen, NY, about hour and half north of NYC, is the new seasonal LEGOLAND® theme park featuring a total of eight (8) different lands that make up the 150 acre resort. A multi-day experience with more than 50 rides, shows and attractions, all designed for kids ages 2 – 12 and their families, the attraction features a series of Birdair Modular Tensile Shade Structures at the ‘Miniland’ portion of the park.
Miniland, a miniature village of LEGO built cities from across the country, is the iconic heart of every LEGOLAND Park. There will be interactive features around every corner as well as tensile membrane canopies to provide shade and weather protection for all park visitors.
The Materials
Installed by MakMax Group’s USA team Birdair, the 17 various side-supported, or cantilevered, Monaco Modular shade canopies throughout the Miniland Park. The PVC canopies were designed and fabricated by MakMax Australia in Brisbane, with the modular shade structure frames designed and built by the project team at Birdair.
Ten (10) of the Miniland Monacos are single tensile shade units and seven (7) are double boom, or also described as two canopies on one steel cantilevered column support. The Mehler FR580 PVC fabric covering the tensile modular structures showcases two different colored PVC membrane – Pepper and Moss Green.
